Hyderabad: Over 300 Trainee Civil Servants, who are attending 93rd Foundation Course at Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana, celebrated Bathukamma Festival and Cultural Program, called Gulzar, signifying the importance of flowers in this festival.
The Officer Trainees (OTs) enthusiastically participated in the Bathukamma dance. Their proactive interest in the celebrations in general and dancing skills in particular left every one present awestruck. The artists from Department of Culture performed the traditional Dappulu dance.
On this occasion, the OTs preformed classical dances. As a part of the cultural fusion, they performed folk dances of different States, including Lezim, Lavani, Garba, etc. In addition, they recited poetry and participated in skits, speed painting, and other events. The dazzling display of colourful costumes of different regions captured the hearts of one and all. All the OTs received huge rounds of applause and admiration for their excellent performances.
The BP Acharya, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to Government & Director General, Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana presented mementos to Miss SanjulaHalder, IRS (IT) and Miss Likhita, IRS (C & CE) for performing classical dances and to all the OTs who performed Bhangda dance, choreographed by Miss Amandeep Dhanoa, IRS (IT). Mr Rajesh, IFS, Miss Manita Jain, ISS, and Miss AartiMehawar, ISS received prizes for their Best Garba, Best Dandia, and Best Bathukamma dance performances, respectively.
The BP Acharya, who spoke on the occasion, said that Bathukamma is a unique festival in the entire world with a focus on flowers and women. He said that the celebration of this festival is an opportunity for the OTs, who comes from different parts of the country, to understand the culture, heritage, and values of Telangana.
The event was organized by Film and Fine Arts Club with Miss Avinash Kumari, ISS as its Secretary and Mr Satwik, IFS, Mr Shashi Kumar, IFS, Miss Kruti M Patel, IRS (IT), and Miss SoumyaAnand, IRS (IT), as members. On this occasion, snacks and food items unique to Telangana were served which were relished by one and all.
