The Principal Secretary Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar today visited a centre for children suffering from autism in the city today. The centre being run by the Behaviour Momentum India Foundation has 32 students in three batches. The staff explained about the various services being provided in the centre such as intervention, language assessment, school integration, home consultations, parent training, occupational therapy, behavioral consultations, distance consultations and organizing workshops. They informed that 17 professional trainers are working at the centre and they provide a personalized training to the children. The programmes are held for ten to twenty five hours a week which include social skills training and class room training. Mr Arvind Kumar appreciated the work being done by the BMI foundation. He said that more such centres are to be set up in both urban and rural areas across the state. Dr Smita Awasthi Founder Trustee of the BMI foundation, Mr Manoj Sharma Director of BMI and others were present on the occasion.
