The Technical Committee of Directions meeting 2018 for improvement of Animal Husbandry and Dairy statistics held on 13th – 14th November, 2018 at Telangana State Institute of Rural Development, Rajendrangar, Hyderabad organised by Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare, Government of India with the coordination of Government of Telangana State Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Department.
The Meeting is inaugurated by Hon’ble AH, Dairy & Fisheries Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare, Government of India. Tarun Sridhar, IAS along with Commissioner, AH, DD&F, Government of India, Dr.Suresh Hongappal, Mrs. Rani Kumidini, IAS, CEO, NFDB with other dignitaries.
In this keynote address as Chief Guest Tarun Sridhar, IAS said that India isrunning 1st in Milk Production, 2nd in Fish Production & 3rd in Egg Production in the world. The accuracy and integrity of data will help for planning the Animal Husbandry Schemes in turn progress of the Country. Government of India target of doubling of farmer’s income by 2022 possible by Animal Husbandry, Dairy & Fisheries Sectors with integrated farming.
The Chairman of TCD 2018 meeting Dr.Suresh Hongappal, AH, Dairy & Fisheries, Government of India Commissioner said that the GDP growth rate of AH, Dairy is 6.6% during 2017-18. This is higher than Agriculture and other sectors. There is lot of scope in this sector for double digit growth rate. The farmer income is doubled by 2022 is only possible by these sectors development. Some states growth rate is less than national average i.e., 6.6%. They should work hard to increase the Growth Rate in these sectors. Growth rate in Milk, Meat & Eggis increasing every year. Wool growth rate decreasing because of wool sheep rearing going down. India is having very potential bovine breeds for milk production. Progeny testing is going in the country to increase milk production.
The Dr.D.Venkateswarlu, AH department Telangana State has given detailed power point presentation different ongoing schemes and programmes for the benefit of other states.TS livestock resources geography, department institutional network, Disease control strategy( Mass Vaccination and Ring Vaccination), yearly calendar of operations both bacterial and viral vaccinations, 100% sheep and goat deworming 3 times in a year(Free), 75% subsidy sheep rearing programme to shepherd communities, 50% and 75% subsidy (OC,BC,&SC ST), Milch Animals supply to 2.13lakhs registered milk producing farmers in milk unions of the state, Rs.4/- per litre. Milk incentive to milk producing and pouring farmers in registered milk societies, subsidy to feed and fodder development and 100 Mobile Veterinary Clinics to 100 rural assembly constituencies in the state to render doorstep veterinary services.
In this programme Director IASRI, Lal Mohan Dhar, Sri Pradeep Kumar, Statistical Advisor, Pradeep Ray, Deputy Director AHS, Ajit Kumar, Director AHS GOI participated and given clarifications and solutions on collection of Integrated sample data livestock. They have also given solutions on problems of 20th all India Livestock Census programme going on from October 2018. They have directed all the states and union territories to complete the Livestock Census by 31st December 2018. Meeting was attended by 65 participants from 25 states 5 Union territories, NIC officials of GOI, Dr.S. Ramchander, Additional Director Telangana State and Animal Husbandry Department official participated.
