A book release function for the Book, titled “EVM – The True Story”, written by Dr.Alok Shukla, was held today at Dr MCR HRD Institute, Government of Telangana. The function was attended by many intellectuals, including a number of senior IAS officers. A large number of trainee civil servants attending the 93rd Foundation Course, conducted by Dr MCR HRD Institute, also attended the function. The book release function was hosted by Dr MCR HRD Institute.
Author of the Book Dr.Alok Shukla is a serving IAS officer who has served for several years as Deputy Election Commissioner of India. With his deep understanding of the issues relating to EVMs, he has put the EVM debate raging in the country in perspective. The Book traces the history of evolution and development of EVMs in India. It also gives legal battles on EVMs and gives, in detail, judgements of several High Courts and the Supreme Court establishing the legality of EVMs. The Book describes the issues raised by opponents of EVMs and gives a point-by- point rebuttal for all of them. It has a detailed explanation on why EVMs are completely tamper-proof.
The book was released by two former Chief Election Commissioners of India, J.M. Lyngdoh, IAS (Retd.) and V. S. Sampath, IAS (Retd.). Lyndgoh said in his speech that he is fully convinced about the non tamperability of EVMs. Sampath said that he found the book to be very useful for all citizens and a must read for all those who are involved in the conduct of Elections. V. Nagi Reddy, IAS, State Election Commissioner of Telangana also graced the occasion by his presence.
The B. P. Acharya, IAS, Spl. Chief Secretary to Government & DG, Dr MCR HRD Institute presented mementos to the dignitaries.
