The Officers Club of the 93rd Foundation Course, being held at Dr MCR HRD Institute, conducted Sports Meet-“Dangal”- at Parade Ground of Telangana State Special Police Battalion. Over 300trainee civil servants participated in it with zeal and fervour.
As the name suggests, “Dangal”had all the drama and edge-of-the-seat thrill. No quarter was given and none asked. The trainee civil servants gave their competitive best to beat their rivals and make them bite the dust. Interestingly, there was no bitterness as everything was done in a spirit of camaraderie.
The B P Acharya, IAS, Spl. Chief Secretary & DG, Dr MCR HRD Institute, Smt.Abhilasha Bisht, IPS, IGP, Telangana State Special Police, Pragyan Ojha, Indian Cricketer graced the valedictory function of the Sports Meet and presented medals to the winners.
The B P Acharyasaid that the job of civil servants brings in its wake multiple stresses and strains and added that pursuing a passion for sports holds the key not only tokeep them physically and mentally fit but also to get rid of the stress.
The trainee civil servants competed for medals in Track Events(100 metres, 200 metres, 800 metres, Relay Race 4×100 metres), Field Events (High Jump, Javelin Throw, Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw), and Sports Events (Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Chess, Carom, Snooker, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Badminton).
While over 190trainee civil servants won medals in different events,Miss Poonam Pate, IFS, bagged five medals and emerged as the best sportsperson in women category. Mr Rahul Jadhav, IFS, and Yatish Deshmukh, IPSgot four medals eachand emerged as the best sportspersons in men category.
Right from the word go, the trainee civil servants displayed the ‘can do’ spirit. All the competitions generated intense emotions coupled with spirited cheering and screaming, emanating from the stands.
The M P Sethy, DG’s nominee for the Officers’ Club said thatthe sterling performance of the trainee civil servants demonstrated that they are second to none in the sports arena and rubbished many a myth that they are mere book worms.
Miss Poonam Pate,the best sportsperson in women category,said that whether it is the toughest civil services examination or a sports competition, what matters most is giving it one’s best shotand added that learning the lessons of life and enriching the overall personality is more important than merely achieving success and glory.
Mr Rahul Jadhav and Yatish Deshmukh,the best sportspersons in men category, said that the trainee civil servants can learn many a lessonby participating in sports such as setting inspiring goals, motivating teams to perform well, building team spirit, and inculcating high level of discipline.
Miss Amandeep Dhanoa, IRS (IT), Secretary, Officers’ Club said that the purpose of the event was not only to celebrate the victories but also to impart lessons on sportsman spirit.
Miss Alisha Khan, ISS, MrAbhishek Nuniwal, IRS (IT), MrAshutosh Awasthi, ISS, and Pravin Ingavale, IPS, who are the members of the Officers’ Club, put their best foot forward to make the event a great success. The Anil Yadav, IPS and Miss Soumua Anand, IRS conducted proceedings of the valedictory function.
