A high profile team led by R. Kamalakannan, Minister for Education, Government of Pondicherry and Kandasamy, Minister for Welfare, Government of Pondicherry, visited Social Welfare Residential School Gowlidoddi. Kamalakaran appreciated the government of Telangana’s model of residential education. He said that the purpose of their visit is to study the Telangana model of social welfare residential educational system and establish such institutions in the state of Pondicherry based on the model of Telangana.
It is truly remarkable that the government of Telangana launched specialized schools like Social Welfare Sainik School for boys, Fine Arts school and Armed Forces Preparatory Degree College for Women, said Kandasamy, Minister for Welfare. He recalled that the government of India appreciated the Telangana government for launching residential schools on a big scale with huge budgetary allocations. The students explained various activities being implemented like mirror project, summer samurai camps, voice for girls, English –Plus clubs, Operation Blue Crystal to the team members. Secretary Dr RS Praveen Kumar explained various initiatives taken up by the Chief Minister K. Chandra Sekhar Rao for educational upliftment of marginalized children in Telangana, besides providing nutritious diet, supply of woolen blankets and KCR kit under the KG-PG Mission.
The visiting team also appreciated the students for their excellent English communication skills. A. Anbarasu, Secretary to Government of Pondicherry, Alice Vaz, Secretary; Ragunathan, Director, Welfare department among others visited the school.
