The 1st Eklavya Model Residential Schools National Sports Meet concluded today at Gachibowli stadium. Jual Oram, Minister for Tribal Welfare, Government of India is the chief guest. Fire works and scintillating cultural performances marked the valedictory ceremony.
On this occasion, Jual Oram, thanked the late Atal Bihar Vajpayee for setting up the Ministry of Tribal Welfare and his vision for Ekalaya Model Schools
The Minister said that total budget of the ministry of tribal welfare increased significantly, with 6000 crore in the current financial year
The minister further said that his ministry is planning to set up more than 400 Ekalavya Model schools with an estimated budget of 25000 crore across the country
Ekalaya Model schools will be established in tribal areas where tribal population is 200000 and all the EMRS schools will be developed on par with the Jawar Navodaya schools Expenditure per students will be increased from Rs 42000 to 61000 and schools will be upgraded
The Minister said that the government of India is planning set up special sports schools for tribal students
The Minister thanked the Chief Minister of Telangana for agreeing to host the first EMRS sports meet and congratulated the officers for conducting the games successfully Dr RS Praveen Kumar thanked the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for launching tribal welfare residential degree colleges and he explained that no other state in the country took such radical decision in empowering tribal children.
Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary, TTWREIS and Christina Z Chongthu, Commissioner, Tribal Welfare and Tribal Welfare Secretary Mahesh Dutt Ekka central and state officers graced the occasion and congratulated the students for their active participation in 13 events

Telangana students clinched a total of 111 medals with 52 gold, 43 silver and 16 bronze medals
