The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) Chairman Prof. T Papireddye at PJTSAU has appealed the Agricultural Universities should play proactive role in upliftment of the farmers in the country. Prof. Papireddy has attended as the chief guest for the valedictory function of five day training program on National level Capacity Building Workshop for Librarians of State Agricultural Universities (SAU’s) jointly organized by National Agricultural Higher Education Project, New Delhi and Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) under “National knowledge Management Center for Agriculture Education and Research (NKMC4AER). While speaking on this occasion Prof. Reddy said that, dissemination and sharing of Agricultural information & knowledge to the stakeholders such as farmers, student’s research scholars in which librarians should play an important role he added. He quoted the survey report that, the farmers in the country are in deep distress and they ready to shift from the agriculture profession if they get good alternative profession he said. In view of this there is a need to support and strengthen the farmers by extending modern agricultural knowledge, technologies to their door step and enhance their livelihood. Prof .Papireddy suggested the librarians should always proactive in adopting the new developments& changes and happenings in library services around the globe and up gradation of the library services should be a continuous process he said.
Dr. S Sudheer kumar, Registrar PJTSAU has delivered the presidential remarks. The University library is becoming testing lab for adopting newer technologies in library services and sharing its experiences across the country he says. Dr. Sudheer Kumar, Registrar announced that the library services in the university library will be totally automated and several new initiatives would be implemented very soon. He also explained about the university achievements and new initiatives in last four years.
Earlier University Librarian Dr. K Veeranjaneyulu gave the report on five day training program. And also proposed vote of thanks. Certificates to the participants were distributed by the chief guest and registrar. Dr. Rajireddy, Director of Extension PJTSAU, NP Ravi Kumar, Asst Librarian and other staff members of Central library about 28 participants from 25 state agricultural universities were present in the valedictory program held at central library premises.
After this valedictory program the President of Telangana Agricultural scientists Association (TASA) Dr. B Vidyasagar and office bearers, members meets the Prof Papireddy and requested him the early implementation of new pay scales to the university teaching staff.
