The Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana will roll out the first-ever Foundation Course (FC)in India for Group A Officers (Probationers) of Military Engineering Service (MES),sponsored by Ministry of Defence, Government of India.The FC, with a duration of 14-weeks, is the largest chunk of the of the 40-week Induction Training Program, being attended by the Probationers at 11 training establishments from across the country.
The FC will be inaugurated on April 15th, 2019 at 4:00 PM with Major Gen. N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Telangana & Andhra Sub Area, as the Chief Guest and Brigadier Mukund Sharma, Chief Engineer (Factories) and Anand Srivastava, Chief Engineer, R & D as the Guests of honour. B P Acharya, IAS, Spl Chief Secretary to Government & DG, Dr MCR HRD Institutewill presides over the inaugural function.
The FC will be attended by 63 Probationers, including 4 women Probationers, from 13 States, the break up being 24 from UP, 11 from Rajasthan, 5 from Bihar, 4 each from Uttarakhand& Haryana, 3 from MP, 2 each from CG, Delhi &WB, and 1 each from AP, Assam, Himachal Pradesh & Punjab. The Probationers, selected through Engineering Service Examination,conducted by UPSC, belong to three cadres, namely, Engineer Cadre, Surveyor Cadre, and Architect Cadre.
The objective of the highly challenging and feature-richFC is to expose the Probationers to the administrative, managerial, socio-economic, and political environment of the country in order to enable them to appreciate the issues relating to their profession in their true and total frame of reference and toemerge as a productive part of the Military Engineering service.
The FC, through a fusion of academic, outdoor, extra-curricular, and co-curricular activities, is a vehicle that would help the Probationers in their seamless transition to the structured system of the Military Engineering Service.
The Military Engineering Service is mainly employed in the engineering and construction for Indian Armed Forces, including the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Indian Ordinance Factories, DRDO, and the Indian Coast Guard.
