The Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) has been ranked No. 1 Agricultural University in South India and the 6th best in the country for the year 2018, as per the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Ranking released by the Hon’ble Union Agriculture Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar on the ICAR Foundation Day in Delhi celebrated on 16th July 2019. The ranking is based on performance across 33 parameters pertaining to teaching, research and extension excellence. Competing with 74 Agricultural Universities, Deemed Universities & Central Agricultural Universities. PJTSAU showed a remarkable improvement over the 12th rank achieved in 2016 to the 6th rank in 2018. “We are delighted to have improved upon our ranking this year, but we have to work harder. PJTSAU will increase its efforts to ensure that it is recognised as a top institution not only in India, but also internationally, for its quality of teaching and research. Our aim is to produce globally competitive technical manpower in agricultural sciences that are socially and environmentally responsible” said Prof Praveen Rao Velchala, Vice Chancellor, PJTSAU. Established in 2014, PJTSAU, the youngest agri – University in the country has emerged as a prominent centre for agricultural education and research. With three faculties – Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering & Technology and Community Science and more than 22 different departments and centres organised in 9 schools of study, the university is a second home to more than 500 faculty and 5,000 students.
