Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City police constable was suspended after he was accused of inappropriately touching a woman medical student during the protest by medical students of Dr BRKR Government Ayurvedic College on Thursday.
The Minister for Home, Telangana State Mohammed Mahmood Ali spoke to the DCP. South Zone, Hyderabad Amber Kishore Jha over phone and instructed to cause thorough enquiry and take necessary action. Home Minister also directed to deploy Women Police for handling the Girl Students/Women in such situations to avoid such allegations/complaints against Police.
Since few day students of the Ayurvedic College have been opposing the Telangana government’s proposal to shift the government ayurvedic hospital from the premises of the Government Unani Hospital at Charminar to the Ayurvedic Hospital in Erragadda Hyderabad to carry out renovation works. It is alleged that the in-patient ward of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital was vandalized and asked the staff, doctors and patients to vacate the premises allegedly by some Unani students, after that a Police complaint was filed.
That on Wednesday When AYUSH in charge director reached the Government Ayurvedic Hospital to enquire into the matter some protesting students from the Dr BRKR Government Ayurvedic College raised slogans and gheraoed the director’s car by squatting on the road.
The Women police personnel started evicting the protesting women medical student and putting them in police vans. A video and some photos went viral on social media showing some policemen pushing the protesting women. that In the video a policeman in Mufti (Police Constable in plain clothes) has also been seen allegedly touching a woman’s shoulder.
After the allegations by students of alleged highhandedness and manhandling by the police constable, the Hyderabad Police on says that the video would be verified and Commissioner of Police Hyderabad City Anjani Kumar put Constable K Parmesh under suspension and also ordered an inquiry in the incident.
