The Senior Citizens residing in various parts of the Twin Cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have represented and urged over the ill-treatment and harassment being faced by them by their adult children and legal heirs irregularly claiming their shares in their self acquired properties and also children who are well to do are neglecting the old and hapless parents and thereby depriving the rights to live decently and respectfully as guaranteed and protected under the “Maintenance & Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
Upon their representation, Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Minister for Home, Government of Telangana, directed the Director General of Police, T.S., to issue suitable instructions to all the Police authorities and SHOs in the State to entertain the complaints lodged by Senior Citizens on Priority Basis and to initiate action as per Law.
The Ram Reddy, Mohan Reddy, Srinivasa Rao and others represented the Home Minister.
