The trainee Civil Servants,attending the 94th Foundation Course at Dr. MCR HRD Institute, organized “India Day” on November 23rd, 2019 with a view to showcase country’s Unity in Diversity in terms of its culture and customs. The campus of the Institute, which displayed a carnival-like atmosphere, was enveloped in a celebratory mood.A musical band added to the sheen of the event and provided to the audience a great foot tapping time.
The trainee Civil Servants took out a colourful procession from Godavari Residency to Admin Block and culminated at Ramadasu Rangasthali Lawns. The contingent of the Trainee Civil Servants from Maharashtra, mounted on horseback and led by their leader dressed as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was the highlight of the procession.
The trainee Civil Servants gave into the festive mood and danced to the rhythmic beats of drums and musical band. Fusion of dance performances was the unique feature of the event. The trainee Civil Servants not only presented the dance performances of their respective regions but also joined their colleagues in presenting the dance forms of other States. Dressed in unique and colourful attires of various States,the trainee Civil Servants created a captivating spell and converted the campus of the Institute into Mini India.
“The “India Day” Celebrations were greatly instrumental not only in understanding the diverse cultures of different regions but also in building bonds with our co-trainee Civil Servants from various services”, opined the trainee civil servants unanimously.
A High-Voltage Cultural Festival, “Jashn-e-Bharat”:
The India Day celebrations were preceded by a scintillating cultural program, “Jashn-e-Bharat”, in which the trainee Civil Servants showcased their extraordinary talentsin singing, dancing,and music.The program comprised a series of such individual and group dance performances as Bhangra, Gidda, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Ghoomar, Bharatanatyam, etc.,which proved to be a grand treat for the dance and music enthusiasts. A Mime presentation, called “Real Heroes of India” not only uplifted the mood of the audience but also ignited the air with the magic of patriotism and pride. Besides the trainee Civil Servants, the events were graced by B P Acharya, IAS, Spl. Chief Secretary & DG, Dr. MCR HRD Institute, Officers, Faculty, Staff, and other trainees. On this occasion, B P Acharya,IAS, Harpreet Singh, IAS, Smt. Ananda Shankar Jayanth, IRTS, Syed Mohammed Arif, a renowned Badminton Coach, and B Shekhar Babu, an eminent Mountaineer gave away prizes to the trainee Civil Servants in different competitions. B P Acharya, IAS presented mementoes to the artists from Karnataka, who presented such dance forms as Suggi Kunitha, Dollu Kunitha, Veeragasi, and Chirmi. The anchoring by Miss Ishita Gupta, ISS and Miss Deepti Bagga, ICAS was an icing on the cake.
