A first-of-its-kind initiative called, “Nurture the Future”, was launched at Dr MCR HRD Institute which involved a partnership between the ISS & IES Officers undergoing 94th Foundation Course at Dr MCR HRD Institute and Nirman Organization, a leading NGO with its presence across the country with HQs at Hyderabad. On this occasion, the functionaries from Dr MCR HRD Institute and Nirman Organization and ISS & IES Officer Trainees presented kits to girl children of Grade 10 studying in Telangana State Residential School for Girls, Borabanda. The kits comprised a school bag, books on inspiring personalities, a pen set, a geometry box, a dictionary, a calculator, an exam writing pad, sanitary napkins, etc.
As a part of the “Nurture the Future” initiative, the ISS and IES Officers will be the mentors for 40 girl children of Telangana State Residential School for Girls, Borabanda. The Officers will maintain a live contact, through internet and mobile phones, with their mentees and provide them counselling and guidance in order to enable them to set challenging career goals and empower them to achieve them. The Nirman Organization will be a bridge between the ISS and IES Officers and their mentees and will facilitate a continuous interaction between them.
The B P Acharya, IAS, Spl. Chief Secretary & DG of the Institute, who graced the event, said that a substantial number of girl children from Government schools belong to weaker sections of society. “While the Government has been generous in addressing their educational needs, they are in the dark insofar as the fast-changing career and educational opportunities are concerned”, said Acharya and added that the expert career and educational guidance by the ISS and IES Officers will be greatly instrumental in ensuring that the girl children enter into right career stream which are in tune with their personality profiles. Acharya underlined the need to replicate this initiative across the length and breadth of the country in order to ensure that the young Civil Servants become the mentors for the girl children belonging to weaker sections of society and fulfil their social responsibilities.
The MayurPatnala, Founder & CEO, Nirman Organization, who spoke on this occasion, said that the prime motto of “Nurture the Future” initiative is to preserve the dreams of girl children and enable them to achieve them, despite numerous adversities. Miss Amelia Betsy, ISS said that the amazing interaction session between the ISS and IES Officers and their respective mentees was greatly instrumental in establishing a pleasant mentor-mentee relationship. Miss K Akhila, a girl child, said that the interaction was thrilling in nature and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the girl children.
The event was attended by 140 trainee Civil Servants representing 23 Statesand 15 Services, who are attending the 94th Foundation Course at the Institute, Abdul Waheed, IFS (Retd.),Director, Nirman Organization, ChandraSekhar, CEO, NirmanVidya Helpline, Shravan Kasam, Head, Surge Impact Foundation, and Govardhan Reddy, Principal In-charge, Govt. Girls’ School, Borabanda, and others
