Ten properties in and around Mumbai were seized by the Central Bureau of Investigation. In 2015, seven properties were auctioned. The Bids came from lawyers and former journalists. But the questions were raised whether the auction was genuine or under his cover, whether ownership of these properties was transferred or not.

Three properties being auctioned at this time are located in South Mumbai’s Bhendi Bazaar area. It is located in the Shabnam Guest House on Yakub Street, five rooms in Dambarwala Building on Pakmodia Street and Hotel Raunak Afroz on the same street.
In the year 2015, Hotel Raunak Afroz was auctioned. Former journalist Balakrishnan had deposited Rs. 30 Lakhs and won the bid. But since he could not deposit the remaining balance – about Rs. 4 crore, the bid was canceled
