Islamabad: A Pakistani anti-corruption court on Thursday, ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter on allegations of ownership of London properties, accusing the allegations that the former leader could be seen in jail.
The Supreme Court had been declared disqualified from holding the post, on an undisclosed source of income, but his hold on the ruling party leader of the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party Retains
A Reuters witness in the court said that Sharif, his daughter Maryam, as well as her husband Muhammad Safdar, had been charged by a court of anti-corruption agency, National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
They pleaded not guilty, Maryam and Safdar were present in the court, but Sharif sent a representative, while he sends his sick wife to Britain to attend the treatment for cancer.
The Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification was derived from the leak of Panama letters in 2016, which indicates that his daughter and two sons share the British Virgin Islands and use them to buy posh flats in London.
The Supreme Court initially refused to dismiss Sharif, but ordered an investigation into his family’s Wealth. After the investigation, the court disqualified him and ordered NAB to investigate and conduct trials. A separate panel appointed by the Supreme Court said that the property of the family does not match its income, and in order to obscure the ownership of offshore companies to buy London flats, Marim and his brothers accused of signing forged documents.
