Hyderabad: The P. Satyanarayana Reddy, Member Secretary, TSPCB directed all the hospitals in the state to strictly adhere to the Bio Medical Waste Rules – 2016, failing which stringent action will be initiated against the hospitals.
The Task Force Committee reviewed the disposal of Bio Medical Waste of 32 major hospitals in the state, in which the committee observed (3) hospitals is not properly disposing the Bio Medical waste to the common Bio Medical treatment facilities, the committee decided to issue show cause notices to these (3) hospitals as to why prosecution should not be launched against them.
The committee directed all the hospitals should compulsorily have CFO from TSPCB.
The Bio Medical Waste be collected in colour coded bins and bar coded bags.
The Bio Medical Waste should directly go to the BioMedical facility and should not be mixed with municipal waste.
Plastic waste should collected separately and also have designated place in the hospitals for storing.
All Hospitals in the state will be inspected regularly by the TSPCB officials and be reviewed by the Task Force Committee.
The Task Force also reviewed the operation performances of (11) Bio Medical Treatment facilities in the state. They were directed to collect the segregated Bio Medical Waste on day to day basis. The Task Force also directed the facilities to upgrade the treatment facilities by 27th March 2018 as per the New Bio Medical Rules – 2016.
