Hyderabad: Realizing the objective of the Prime Minister’s call to double the farmer’s income by 2022 requires regional/state specific action plans in agriculture and allied sectors. In this connection, Centre for Good Governance (CGG), in association with NABARD is organizing a National Workshop on “Doubling Farmers Income by 2022” on 17th January 2018.
The Dr.Ashok Dalwai, IAS, Chairman, PM’s Committee on Doubling of Farmers’ Income, Dr.Ramesh Chand, Member (Agriculture), NITI Aayog, Dr. Mohan Kanda former Secretary Agriculture, GoI, Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Vice Chancellor, PJTSAU etc are some of the eminent experts who have confirmed to participate in the event.
The workshop is aimed to bring scientists, eminent thought leaders and policy makers exchange their knowledge and ideas on the theme with the objectives being the following:
1. To deliberate on the relationship between agricultural growth and agricultural profitability
2. To deliberate on key policy measures in the context of increasing incomes by improving productivity
3. Discuss the role of emerging technologies in cost reduction in crop husbandry
4. Discuss on industry participation for increased farm incomes such as contract farming, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) etc.
5. Role of diversification of farm enterprises in augmenting farmer’s income in a sustainable manner
6. To discuss and suggest solutions that can enable a doubling of farmers’ income by 2022.
The deliberations and outcome of the workshop will be a step forward towards setting the agenda and accelerating initiatives already undertaken by the Government of Telangana for increasing the farmers’ income.
