Islamabad: The Pakistan’s Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) has decided to refrain from screening the forthcoming Bollywood movie ‘Pari’ in theaters across the country.
It has been decided because material of the horror film promotes black magic, some non-Islamic values and anti-Muslim sentiments.
A member of Pakistan’s CBFC said, “The script, dialogue and story of innings are against our Islamic values, there are different ideologies about magic in Islam, this film stimulates the audience in favor of black magic and promotes thoughts that are contradictory to our religion.
The Chairman of Pakistan Film Distributors Association Chaudhary Ejaz Kamran has agreed with CBFC’s decision. He said, “Any film that goes against our culture and Islamic history should be banned in Pakistan”. The Pakistan CBFC official said, “None of the CBFC members are ready to give the certificate to any category in the class and hence the ban has been imposed.”
Talking about the screening again, the official said, “The distributors have the right to appeal and the following appeal has been made, we will again show the film on the screen to be reviewed by the full board.” The Sources said after the appeals of the distributors, CBFC officials have seen ‘Pari’ once before declaring final decision.
