Hyderabad: The Himachal Futuristic Communications Limited (HFCL) is pleased to announce the setting up of Greenfield project of manufacturing Optical Fiber (OF) in the state of Telangana at S-9, Fab City, E-City, Raviryala & Srinagar (V), Maheshwaram (M), Srisailam Road, Ranga Reddy District.
The Company manufactures optical fibre cables at its Goa plant and at Chennai in Company’s subsidiary HTL Limited. In order to reduce the input cost and overcome the worldwide shortage of fibre supply, Optical Fibre manufacturing Facility is being set up at Ranga Reddy District, Telangana as a backward integration of optical fibre cable manufacturing. That the Facility is expected to produce 6.4- Million Fiber kilometers P.A. The cost of this project is estimated to be Rs.260 crore and it will commence production from April, 2019. That this is a backward-integration of business for HFCL, and a big initiative towards “Make in India” and “Digital India” program promoted by Government of India. This manufacturing facility will be used to produce optical fibers which are mainly used for telecommunication (4G/5G) and various networks for broadband & FTTx in India and abroad.
The foundation stone was laid to mark the start of construction of the plant in the auspicious presence of Hon’ble Minister IT E&C, Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Industries & Commerce, Public Enterprises, Sugar, Mines Geology and NRI Affairs K T Rama Rao in presence of P. Mahender Reddy (Min. for Transport), Mr. Mahendra Pratap Shukla, Chairman and Mr. Mahendra Nahata, Managing Director HFCL, here at Fabcity (Ranga Reddy District) near Hyderabad, Telangana.
The Teegala Krishna Reddy, MLA, Maheshwaram, J. Laxmaiah, Sarpanch, Raviryala and Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary, I&C and IT, Govt. of Telangana were present at the ceremony.
The Company has purchased a plot of land of the area of 20 acres approx to set up this Facility. This will equip the Company to create direct and indirect employment for more than 1000 personnel.
Speaking on the occasion Mahendra Nahata , Managing Director said, “In recent years, the demand for fibre has risen sharply across the world and it is anticipated that demand for the-fiber will keep on to raise over the next-decade owing to the increased-data-consumption from the consumers and a major boost from Government Projects like National Optical Fibre Network-(NOFN); the Network for spectrum-(NFS); National Knowledge Network; Development of Wi-Fi enabled smart cities and IT implementation in postal department.
He further said, “Our sincere thanks to the Chief Minister of Telangana and State Government of Telangana who has allotted the parcel of land on which state of the art facility is being set up by the Company.”
Launch of the 5th Mobile Medicare Clinic (MMC)
After the stone laying ceremony for the plant, the Company also launched its fifth Mobile Medicare Clinic (MMC) in Ranga Reddy District, Telangana. The MMC is a CSR initiative launched by HFCL in 2016 to promote and develop sustainable programmes that address healthcare issues in the country. It aims to provide free consultations, diagnostics and medicines to the poor and needy.
The MMC will be an addition to Clinics, existing in Solan (Himachal Pradesh), Goa, Sardarshahar (Rajasthan) and in Ghazipur (Uttar Pradesh), which is already providing 1,00,000 yearly consultations. The Company will incur a sum of Rs. 5 crore approx on these initiatives as its CSR expenditure.
The Mobile Medicare Unit will consist of a dedicated professional team including, one medical consultant, a pharmacist, a social worker, a lab technician and a driver. The unit aims to target underprivileged population in urban and rural slums across Ranga Reddy District through free medical consultancy and diagnostics. Medicines for common ailments such as hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, etc. will be issued to the patients free of cost. Additionally, the team will also train caretakers on hygiene, sleep disorders, nutrition, etc. The Mobile Medicare Clinic comes equipped with ENT & Eye diagnostic Set, ECG Machine, Minor Surgical & Dressing sets to help the team to provide best medical help possible. The customized Force Ambulance Bus is fully funded by HFCL and is managed by Wockhardt Foundation.
