The Telangana State Council of Science & Technology (TSCOST) is organizing the most prestigious and noble program “National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC)” in Telangana State in accordance with the guidelines of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India by involving School Going / Dropout Students in the age group of 10 – 17 years to inculcate Scientific Temper and to orient the students towards research activities through “Learning by Doing Scientific Projects”.
To invoke the 26th NCSC 2018 session, TSCOST organized the State Level Training Workshop for Resource Teachers on NCSC on 30-05-2018 at the Conference Hall, Aranya Bhavan, Saifabad, Hyderabad.
The objective of the workshop is to sensitize the NCSC fraternity about the salient features of the focal theme of 26th NCSC-2018 as well as organizational aspects and guidelines of NCSC.
The P. Sudarshan, Senior Civil Judge and Secretary, Telangana State Legal Services Authority, Hyderabad graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Released the NCSC Brochure and Inaugurated the Workshop. the P. Sudarshan strongly advocated for development of scientific temper among students and various cross sections of society in the country, so as to sustain India’s strengths in Space, Information technology, Agriculture, Nuclear Science etc and also to enable India to compete with the developed nations in other areas.
The Prof. Ravi Kumar Puli, Member Secretary, TSCOST, Government of Telangana & State Coordinator for NCSC, presiding over the function, informed that the Govt. of India declared “Science, Technology & Innovation for a Clean, Green & Healthy Nation” as focal theme of 26th NCSC 2018. The Prof. Ravi Kumar Puli, Member Secretary, TSCOST advised the NCSC District Coordinators and District Academic Coordinators of the state to guide the teachers, students and the school dropouts to prepare innovative projects based on the focal theme so that the students would imbibe scientific attitude from their childhood.
The M. Deepika, Head, Dept. of Curriculum, Maths & Science, SCERT participating as the Guest of Honour, stressed on the need for increasing the reach, orientation, mentoring and refining activities related to NCSC projects so that the students would be motivated towards undertaking research activities from the beginning of their academic careers.
Dr. B. Sreenivas, Head, Dept. of Applied Geo-chemistry, Osmania University and the State Academic Coordinator for NCSC & Dr. Sayeeda Azeemunnisa, Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Sciences, Osmania University participated as the Guest Speakers and trained the District Level NCSC Coordinators and Academic Coordinators on various facets of preparation of NCSC projects with specific reference to the focal theme.
The TSCOST officers, NCSC functionaries such as District Coordinators, District Academic Coordinators and Resource Persons from all over the state have participated in the above Workshop.
