Hyderabad: The World Blood Donor Day State level Event observed on at Ravindra Bharathi, that on 14th June Every Year, Countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD).The event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their life saving gifts of blood.
The slogan of this year’s World Blood Donor Day is “Be There for someone else, Give blood, Share life”. That the Theme of this year campaign is “Blood donation as an action of solidarity”, it highlights the fundamental human values of altruism, respect, empathy and kindness which underline and sustain voluntary unpaid blood donation systems; Today Telangana State AIDS Control Society (TSACS) has observed World Blood Donor Day at Ravindra Bharathi. Earlier a rally was conducted from Nizam College Grounds to Ravindhra Bharathi which is flagged off by Chief guest Honarable Health Minister, Telangana state, Dr. CH. Laxma reddy Garu and also Project Director-TSACS. Nearly 1000 people from NCC, NSS, Nursing students, IRCS, Blood bank volunteers, Fan clubs, NGOs, students, stakeholders participated in the rally followed by a public meeting at Ravindra Bharati. Before Flagging off the Rally, Honarable Health Minister addressed the gathering and explained how state government is strengthening the Health sector in the state. And also explained how govt is supporting blood transfusion services in the state.
Before starting public Meeting Blood camp was inaugurated at Ravindra bharathi premises by Special Guest Honarable Home Minister, Telangana state Nayini Narsimha reddy Garu. Dr. Preeti Meena, IAS, Project Director, TSACS started the program by welcoming all the guests. Public meeting inaugurated with lighting the lamp by dignitaries. To create awareness on voluntary blood donation is done through cultural programs like stage Dramas, dance performances and songs. The Special guest and other dignitaries like DDG-NCC, Colonel, Military station HQ, Secunderabad, Director –IPM, also in their address, appreciated voluntary non- remunerated blood donors & the efforts of voluntary organizations & blood banks for promoting voluntary blood collection in Telangana State and stressed to continue the same efforts to ensure 100% voluntary collection. Dr. Preeti Meena, IAS, Project Director, TSACS started in the speech by explaining about blood transfusion services in the state by strengthening quality management system and creating transparency in blood banking system and to provide sufficient safe blood in the state. Finally she appreciated all the partners for their efforts and support in voluntary blood collection, Madam also promised to put in all the efforts from her part to achieve the goal for voluntary blood collection.
One poster & 2 leaflets promoting voluntary blood donation & information on blood donation were released by Special Guest Honarable Home Minister, Telangana state Sri. Nayini Narsimha reddy Garu and the Project Director followed by the distribution of awards to the people who are regular voluntary donors & have contributed immensely to the cause as a token of appreciation. Other organizations like NCC, NSS, Nursing students, IRCS, Blood bank volunteers, Fan clubs, NGOs, students, stakeholders have participated in the program.
