Hyderabad: Under the continuous guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in a major development in the history of power sector, the 400KV GIS LIFT IRRIGATION SUBSTATION AT MEDARAM has been technically commissioned remotely from Telanagana State Load Dispatch Center through online SCADA system at Vidyut Soudha, Hyderabad by Sri D.Prabhakar Rao, CMD/TSGENCO & TSTRANSCO on 28.08.2018, by switching on the 400KV Circuit Breakers situated in the switchyard of 400KV Medaram Substation site.
On this occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao while congratulating CMD/ TSGenco & TSTransco for taking initiatives in adoption of latest technological advancements in the field of Transmission Sector said that, it is the first 400KV Substation remotely commissioned by any State Power Utility in the Country.
The D. Prabhakar Rao, CMD said that, TSTRANSCO has commissioned the 400 KV Medaram GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) Lift Irrigation Substation with an investment of Rs.430 crores in a record period of Five Months as against the Standard norm of Eight months for construction of a 400KV GIS Substation.
It is pertinent to note that, the power supply will be extended to Seven (7) Nos of Pumps of capacity 124.4 MW through Seven (7) Nos of Power Transformers of rating 160 MVA and 2No.s of 25 MVA Station Transformers. The total load of 870.80 MW will be extended to the Pump Houses.
Highlights of Medaram GIS Substation: Medaram 400 kV GIS Substation is the First Gas Insulated Substation of TSTRANSCO. The 400 kV QMDC Line (20.3km length) from Ramadugu 400/13.8/11 kV SS is terminated at the Outdoor Switchyard which in turn is connected to GIS Substation inside the Tunnel through 400 KV, 2500sqmm XLPE Cable. Telangana is the 3rd state in the country to utilize this 400KV XLPE Cable of 2500sqmm size. As this much higher capacity cables of 2500sqmm size are not manufactured in India, the same are imported from South Korea.
