A two day Agrivision 2019: Conference on envisioning Agro solutions for Smart and Sustainable Agriculture has concluded here on Friday at ITC Kohenur, Hitech city. The two day conference was jointly organized by Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Cornell University, USA. In this two days conference there were eight different sessions organized and 44 speakers from various public and private institutions, industries, and also experts from USA & farmers were participated in the deliberations held on various subjects. On the first day sessions were held on Combating Climate change: Advances in crop breeding and Natural Resource Management (NRM) in this session they were discussed on the advancements in the area of crop breeding and the technologies and developing new varieties in adapting and their ability in withstanding the climate change. Further, in this session they were also discussed on Natural Resources Management, Internet of Things (IoT) & AI based Agriculture: The evolving landscape of digital Revolution. This session speakers were expressed their views on the digital interventions for Smart agriculture such as drones, remote sensing, sensor based drip irrigation, big data analysis, IoT, Artificial intelligence in enabling and empowering agriculture. Simultaneously, in other sessions speakers made deliberations on Economics behind Enhancing farmer’s income: Financing Agriculture and Role of private and public Sector.
The second day the Director General of Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra has chaired the session on Post harvest Management and value addition of foods: Role of farmer producer’s organizations (FPOs) in improving Market Access. While delivering his chairman speech he advised on the issues such as reducing post harvest losses especially in perishable foods and grains, he also spoke about how important it is to make agriculture profitable and sustainable and encourage in terms of ensuing consumer’s benefits and producer’s benefits. Dr Mohapatra emphasized on addressing the gap between production and consumption which in turn will lead to post harvest wastage and lead to increase in farmer’s income and better returns to the producer. He also told about how Government of India is supporting food processing with various policies and support systems by promoting value addition to food products and additional income and employment will be created. The second day last panel discussion on Technology in Agri Entrepreneurship : Success stories and Experiences from the progressive Farmers was chaired by the Dr V Praveen Rao, Vice Chancellor of PJTSAU. The main focus of this session was in use of technology by the farmers and how it helped them in improving their yield. In this session progressive farmers were shared their success stories and experiences. Several eminent speakers from India and USA were deliberated their views and shared their experiences in agricultural sector.
