Gorakhpur: at least 13 more deaths occurred in `in the last 24 hours. The number of children killed for this year is 1,317. The 13 NICU was among the ten children in the ward and in three general pediatric wards, the new Institute Principal Dr. PK Singh said.
He said that no new death was recorded in Ward Housing Encephalitis patients and it was said that 53 new patients of this disease were admitted to the medical institute.
On Saturday morning, the Special Task Force (UPSTF) of Uttar Pradesh arrested Dr. Kafeel Khan, who was then in charge of Encephalitis Ward. Due to the death of nearly 60 children in a week starting from, 7th August, the state government suspended him from his role in the hospital because it is due to lack of oxygen.
The Dr. Kafeel Khan was arrested from Gorakhpur and is being handed over to the Gorakhpur Police,” said IG Special Task Force Amitabh Yash.
The hospital has come under the constituency of Uttar Pradesh’s Yogi Adityanath recently made headlines for the death of the unusually large number of infants, all of whom are suffering from encephalitis virus. Patients were killed due to lack of supply of oxygen. It was alleged that the hospital administration had not approved the bill of the seller, for the supply of cylinders.
