Hyderabad: The World Tourism Day is celebrated all over the world with great fervor which also gives an insight and knowledge to the public / tourists about various tourist places in the world. The objective of the celebrations is to generate awareness in the public and the importance of tourism in a multidimensional activity which has great impact across different sections of the society. Tourism promotes tolerance, love, peace, exchange of culture & tradition. Tourism is an industry where it impacts the Social, economic lives of the people as well as the State / Countries revenue or exchequer. This year World Tourism Day is celebrated all over the world with the theme “Sustainable Tourism – a tool for development”. The Tourism sector is a growth engine & provides maximum direct & indirect employment than any other sector. Tourism has become the continuously growing and developing economic sectors worldwide because of the occurrences of various attractive and new destinations for the tourists.
During the World Tourism Day Celebrations, the Telangana State which is being the youngest State of Country have received 8 National Tourism Awards in various categories seeking attention all over the country. These awards are witness of our endeavour. Around 11 Road Shows have been organized for the previous financial year which have fructified the brand Hyderabad & Telangana.
The Endeavour of the Government of Telangana is to develop new tourist destinations & products, generate employment to the local populace. That the government Department is participating in various tourism fairs / marts at the National and International level duly promoting the tourism destinations of the State, thus generating revenue to the state exchequer through direct & indirect sources. Major festivals like Bathukamma, Bonalu and Kite Festival are being organized to promote the local tradition & culture of Telangana.
The Department is organizing Hyderabad Joy Ride introducing a novel option of viewing landmark tourist spots and other destinations of Hyderabad from air at regular intervals for promoting heli-tourism.
Hyderabad, particularly is a hub for MICE, Medical & Heritage Tourism. This year, around 6 International Conferences are scheduled in Hyderabad and among them SKAL International Travel Congress & Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) Global University, 2017 are the major International Conferences which bring lots of revenue to the State. Around 1.56 Lakhs have come up to Hyderabad for the Medical / Wellness Tourism.
Thriving hard to upgrade the tourist destinations with the support of the Government of India and the following are the 3 major projects sanctioned under Swadesh Darshan scheme.

Apart from the Government of India, the State Government is also developing new destinations & products to enhance tourism foot falls. Around 39% of International & 1% of Domestic tourists have increased over the last year.
The Government of India is organizing Paryatan Parv across the country from 5th to 25th October, 2017 which is basically a celebration of the tourism and it will be about the bringing of tourism on the center stage in these 21 days. The campaign will revolve around elements like tourism for all, which means not just for international tourists, but also people within the country, making tourism every body’s business, and not just confining it to hotels and tour operators.
As per the directive of Government of India, Swachhta activities are being taken up like Swachhta hi Sewa (15th Sept. to 2nd October, 2017), Swachhta Pakwadas (16th to 30th September, 2017), Paryatan Parv (5th to 25th October, 2017) duly identifying the tourist destinations viz., Medak Fort, Golconda Fort & Ramappa temple etc. keeping them clean, neat & hygiene.
The Department is presenting the Telangana State Tourism awards under various categories, so as to encourage the healthy competition in order to promote the tourism activities in the State on the occasion of World Tourism Day & Paryatan Parv Celebrations.
The World Tourism Day & Paryatan Parv Celebrations are organized at Taramati Baradari on 13th October, 2017 and K. Swamy Goud, Hon’ble Chairman, Telangana State Legislative Council has graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while Azmeera Chandulal, Hon’ble Minister for ST Development, Tourism & Culture, Dr. K.V. Ramana Chary, IAS (Retd.), Advisor to Government, Pervaram Ramulu, IPS (Retd.), Chairman, Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation were the Guests of Honour, presided by B. Venkatesham, IAS., Secretary to Government, YAT&C Department, Govt. of Telangana.
