The cricket is considered as a religion and cricketers are admired and given respect equal to the gods, the Indian cricket team represents a brand that everyone wants to get associated with, for a team it’s only fair that they demand and eventually get the best equipments, kits and facilities, While other things are well in order, it’s their poor quality sponsor kits that seem to have displeased the Indian cricketers lately,Nike has been associated with the Indian cricket team since 2006, But the sports giant has recently got into difficulty with the Indian stars complaining regarding their kits. The top two BCCI official, Rahul Johri and Ratnakar Shetty have raised the issue to Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA).
The Nike branding products has come up for argument in last CoA meeting and chairman CoA (Vinod Rai) took it very strongly, The team cannot have poor quality kits and we will be connect with the Nike and he has asked to put our case strongly, We have to connect with them, we will have a meeting with them (Nike) next week and try to resolve the issue at earliest, In 2016, Nike India had paid a huge Rs 30 crores to continue their association with the Indian cricket team until 2020, As per their contract that runs from 1st Jan, 2016 to 30th September, 2020, Nike India pays a astounding Rs 87, 34,000 for every match Team India plays.
