Lucknow: A Cop allegedly attempted to rape a 6-year-old girl inside a police Check-post in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh. Sub-inspector, Tejveer Singh, was caught by the villagers and the cop has been arrested.
The child was playing outside the check-post in a Bhanwaraka village near the Kemri town about 350 kilometers from the state capital Lucknow, when the policeman had allegedly attempted to rape the girl. Immediately after hearing the victim screaming, the villagers entered the police station and found the cop tried to force himself upon the victim.
Nearly 200 villages surrounded the area police Check-post and protested against the cop. Police Superintendent Vipin Tada reached the spot and Accused Tejbir Singh was arrested. A breath analyzer test showed that the policeman consumed alcohol.
The parents of the child have lodged the complaint and a first information report has been lodged against sub-inspector for attempt to rape and under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act.
Sub inspector is presently lodged in jail and the investigation of this incident is started, the child has got a medical examination and is waiting for the report, Police said
