Lucknow: More than 300 students of Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Shamli district were taken to the district hospital after complaining of trouble in respiration, stomach ache and after release of chemical smoke from neighboring sugar mills, reached the district hospital after bitter taste.

The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed Saharanpur Commissioner to investigate the incident. He has asked the District Magistrate to ensure proper treatment of children.
According to Dr. Raj Kumar, chief medical officer of Shamli, most of the children were discharged after the basic treatment was given.
The school has been closed for the day. He said that so far three students were still admitted to the hospital and they were under observation.
Thirty six students were sent to a private hospital for advanced treatment. Small children seem to be more affected by the smoke.
The Shamli District Magistrate Indra Vikram Singh accused of erasing the incident and said that the smell released as part of regular cleaning practice in the closest sugar mills made the students sick.
