Hyderabad: The Social Service Club of the 92nd Foundation Course for All India Services and Central Civil Services officers, being held at Dr. MCR HRD Institute, Government of Telangana organized a Blood Donation Camp on December 12th, 2017. The Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, which was represented at the camp by a team of eight medical and para medical staff, was the recipient Institution. The Officer Trainees, Officers, Faculty, and Staff of the Institute, who attended the camp in large numbers, donated 78 units of blood.
Smt. Anitha Balakrishna, IA & AS, Joint Director General of the Institute and Course Coordinator, inaugurated the camp. She congratulated the Officer Trainees and staff of the Institute for donating blood. “Blood remains the most precious thing and donation of blood, even in small quantities, is an important step for a noble cause.
Dr. Vaibhav, IRS, an Officer Trainee said that he is a medical doctor and has been donating blood once in four months. “The blood donation does not make a person weak as the human body produces new blood continuously”, he said.
Ms. Namratha Jain, IPS, Secretary of the Social Service Club said that the hallmark of civil services is service to the citizens. “Blood donation is one of the ways in which the officers can be of help to the society”, she said.

Dr. Mahesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, NIMS said that blood donation by the Officer Trainees in large numbers was a pleasant surprise to him. He stated that availability of right type and quantity of blood in the hospitals will be greatly instrumental in saving the precious lives of patients. He added that all the Officer Trainees and others, who donated blood, have been given certificates to this effect.
“The Blood Donation Camp was an occasion for us to realize the importance of community service”, opined the Officer Trainees unanimously.
The Ayush Jain, IFS, Bhupati Rohit, ICAS, Ms. Upasana, IPS, Ms. Supriya Das, IPS, and Pankaj Kumar, ISS who are the members of the Social Service Club, put their best foot forward to make the event a great success.
