Mumbai: The special PMLA court in Mumbai issued non-bailable warrants against diamond merchants Niarv Modi and Mehul Choksi in connection with PNB fraud on Saturday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had directed Modi to direct him to join the investigation next week because he had claimed that he would not be able to join the investigation as he had foreign trade trade. The Central Investigation Agency also asked to contact the High Commission of the country related to the celebrity diamond merchant and said that the CBI will arrange their travels.
That, after the recent fraud came in to light, Following a recent complaint from Punjab National Bank, investigations of Modi, Choksi and others are being investigated. The complaint alleged that he cheated nationalized bank to the tune of 11,400 crores, along with the alleged involvement of some employees of the bank.
The Nirav along with his wife Ami, Brother Neeshal and Mehul Choksi, had left India in January, before Punjab National Bank (PNB) accused of cheating. Since then they have not returned to India. Meanwhile, the government has canceled passports of Nirvav Modi and Mehul Choksi.
