The Chief Minister Officer on Special Duty, Priyankaa Varghese, IFS, Reviewed Plantation progress and this year Plantation plan in GHMC, The Following salient issues were flagged for action
• The planted figures and survival since 2015-16 to 2017-18 planting season were not the level-headed.
• The GHMC is proposed to plant 40 lakhs (5 lakh is planting by GHMC and 35 lakhs are distributing) for this year planting season. But OSD requested to increase the target (especially each zone must plant 1 lakh plants in Avenue)
• This year tree guards will be supplied at large scale.
• Avenue plantation must be planted with tall plants.
• In this year planting will be done in all the roads, junctions, parks, open places and even small streets also must be covered to plant.
• Mainly the colony parks which are locked and not opened from the years must opened this year planting season and to be develop with full greenery and use for public.
• The Harithaharam display boards must be erected in the areas where planting will be done. Simultaneously requested to erect caution boards for those who pluck the trees and cut trees and those persons must be fined.
• The evergreen species must be planted in all areas of avenue.
• Need to call for public participation in this year and will give the toll free number.
• For effective public participation requested to give toll free number, give advertisements in local FM radios, Pres notes, GHMC app and website.
• Call for peoples representatives like M.Ps, MLC, MLAs, and local Corporators etc.
• Request to take the indent of species from the public.
• List out all the institutions in all the zones and finalize the targets as per the public demand.
• If there is any necessary the species will be procured.
• All colonies must be participated. No single street will be left without planting.
• Requested all the officers to find out open locations and institutions for planting.
• Specially requested to prepared plan of action to plant in all private and Govt. Schools.
• GHMC already prepared and find out the open spaces to plant like the location which are with compound walls and without compound walls.
• Within 15days other review meeting will taken and finalize the targets, locations and extra.
