The Telangana State Forest Department organised fourth round of training for frontline staff of the cadre FBO/FSO/FRO/Veterinary wing from all the districts/division on the subject of wild animal capture techniques and chemical immobilisation. This training is useful for dealing with wild animals like Panther, Sloth Bear, Tiger coming out of forest into farm lands and habitations.
The Forest Department is planning to train at least two frontline staff from each district in use of equipment for capture and chemical immobilisation, a total 65 participants have attended the training programme today. The training programme was inaugurated by Hitesh Malhotra, IFS (Rtd) and was attended by Munindra, Addl. PCCF (Admin. & Wildlife), Dr. Sidhanand Kukrety, IFS, Addl PCCF,R.R and Director Zoo Parks(FAC).
This training was conducted in coordination with an NGO named Wildlife Tranqui Force. Nawab Shafath Ali Khan, Secretary of this organization and Dr.Navin Kumar from this NGO attended the training workshop.
Apart from class room session, hands on experience in views of tranquilizing equipment were given to each participant. A live demonstration was also conducted in tranquilizing a free ranging deer in the Zoo.
The participants expressed great satisfaction with this training and stated that they would be in a position to deal with wild animals coming out of forest in their areas in future. They also requested that, such trainings should be conducted for every (06) months.
